Scripture Reading:

Psalm 100:1-5 (KJV) – Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

1. You need to realize STORMS will FIND you even when you’re not LOOKING for them.

Mark 4:35-37 (ESV) – On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling.

2. You need to realize YOU can experience REST and PEACE even in a great storm.

Mark 4:37-38 (ESV) – And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”

3. You need to realize your storms will REVEAL to you who THE LORD is.

Mark 4:38-41 (ESV) – But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

A. You must remember what The LORD SAID before the storm came.

Mark 4:35 (ESV) – On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”

1 John 5:4-5 (ESV) – For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

B. You must remember what The LORD DID before the storm came.

Mark 4:41 (ESV) – And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

Matthew 28:18 (ESV) – And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (NLT2) – All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.

2 Timothy 4:18 (NLT2) – Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.

Romans 15:13 (ESV) – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Psalm 4:8 (ESV) – In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
