Scripture Reading:
1 Chronicles 16:23-29 (NLT2) – Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. 24 Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. 25 Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods. 26 The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the LORD made the heavens! 27 Honor and majesty surround him; strength and joy fill his dwelling. 28 O nations of the world, recognize the LORD, recognize that the LORD is glorious and strong. 29 Give to the LORD the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the LORD in all his holy splendor.
1. You need to understand the DIFFERENCE between worldly and godly PEACE.
John 14:27 (ESV) – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Peace –
John 16:33 (NLT2) – I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
Romans 8:28 (NLT2) – And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
2. You need to realize true PEACE is ROOTED in your RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:13-17 (ESV) – But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.
Romans 5:1-2 (ESV) – Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 15:13 (ESV) – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
3. You need to do EVERYTHING you can to have God’s peace RULE over your LIFE.
A. LOVE God’s Word!
Psalm 119:165 (ESV) – Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.
B. PRAY about EVERYTHING instead of WORRYING!
Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV) – do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
C. Stay SPIRITUALLY focused on God!
Romans 8:6 (NLT2) – So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
Isaiah 26:3 (NLT2) – You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Colossians 3:15 (ESV) – And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Romans 8:6 (ESV) – For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
