SERIES: BEING GREAT FOR GOD

Matt. 28:20; Selected Scriptures
By

March 20, 2022

Scripture:

Psalm 93:1-5 (ESV) – The LORD reigns; he is robed in
majesty; the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. 2 Your
throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting. 3
The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up
their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. 4 Mightier than the
thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea,
the LORD on high is mighty! 5 Your decrees are very
trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O LORD, forevermore.

COMMITTED To LIVING The Great COMMISSION, Pt. 1

1. To be who God wants you to be you must make the
PURPOSE of the CHURCH your purpose as a BELIEVER.

Matthew 28:16-19a (NLT) – Then the eleven disciples left for
Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17
When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them
doubted! 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given
all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make
disciples of all the nations, . . . .

2. To be who God wants you to be you must DO whatever it
takes to MAKE disciples of JESUS CHRIST.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT) – Therefore, go and make disciples of all
the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the
commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you
always, even to the end of the age.”

A. BAPTIZING them (19b) – focuses on bringing
people to conversion/salvation. (EVANGELISM)

B. TEACH them. . . . to obey (20) – FOCUSES ON
NURTURING PEOPLE TO FACILITATE THEIR
SPIRITUAL MATURITY. (EDIFICATION)

COMMITTED To LIVING The Great COMMISSION, Pt. 2

1. To be who God wants you to be you need to realize GOD is
with YOU when you make OBEYING Him your PRIORITY.

I AM – ego eimi

Exodus 3:11-15 (ESV) – But Moses said to God, “Who am I
that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out
of Egypt?” 12 He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be
the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought
the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel
and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’
and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?”
14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say
this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 15
God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel,
‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham,
the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to
you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered
throughout all generations.

A. HE PROMISES HIS PRESENCE

Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV) – Be strong and courageous. Do not
fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who
goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Matthew 1:23 (ESV) – “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and
bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which
means, God with us).

B. HE PROMISES HIS POWER

Jeremiah 1:8 (ESV) – Do not be afraid of them, for I am with
you to deliver you, declares the LORD.”

C. HE PROMISES HIS PROTECTION

Jeremiah 15:20 (ESV) – And I will make you to this people a
fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall
not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver
you, declares the LORD.

D. HE PROMISES HIS PROVISION

Philippians 4:17-19 (ESV) – Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the
fruit that increases to your credit. 18 I have received full payment,
and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus
the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and
pleasing to God. 19 And my God will supply every need of
yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

E. HE PROMISES HIS PEACE

Matthew 14:27 (ESV) – But immediately Jesus spoke to them,
saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

John 14:1-4 (ESV) – “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in
God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many
rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to
prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for
you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I
am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am
going.”

John 14:27 (ESV) – Peace I leave with you; my peace I
give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your
hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Acts 18:9-10 (ESV) – And the Lord said to Paul one night in a
vision, “Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be
silent, 10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm
you, for I have many in this city who are my people.”
